The project: GAST Onlus
Giacomo Cibelli
Giacomo Cibelli, founder of GAST ONLUS, is an example of how sports can create opportunities for people with disabilities. Founded in 2008 in Reggio Emilia, GAST ONLUS is dedicated to offering physical activities to individuals of all ages, from 3 to 90 years old. The goal is clear: to reduce inequalities and ensure that everyone, regardless of their challenges, has access to meaningful sports experiences.
“Our project is built on the belief that physical activity develops essential skills and reinforces confidence in one’s abilities,” says Cibelli. Through an individualized approach, each participant can ‘tribolare,’ a dialectal term that expresses the arduous journey of learning and growth.
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal number 10 of the 2030 Agenda, highlighting the importance of inclusive and accessible education for all. GAST ONLUS demonstrates that sports are not just a game, but a powerful tool for integration and personal development. Cibelli and his team’s vision is for a better sporting world, where every person has the opportunity to shine, regardless of their disability.
